Effective July 1st, Jeremy Strauss, president and CEO of The Grand Healthcare System, will be operating both The Shore Winds and Hornell Gardens locations. With this change, all employees will retain their positions at their respective facilities. The home manager does a brilliant job keeping everything in order and up to date and is always very caring and helpful. Above all the main thing is that everyone is happy in their jobs and nothing is ever too much trouble. Our qualified and trained nurses work 24 hours a day to deliver the medical assistance and nursing care that your relative or loved one requires. We offer respite care for those recovering from illness, surgery or to simply give their carer a much needed break. Our aim is to provide seamless care, making our respite residents feel at ease and at home.

Limited contact with relatives does make life a little more ”normal” but we all have a long way to go yet. I commend all concerned in the running of the home for their concern and care for the residents and long may it continue. The precautions taken when COVID-19 hit were exemplary and resulted in the home remaining completely free of the virus as far as I am aware. Our goal is to help residents achieve their highest practical level of functioning by combining his or her lifestyle preferences with sound medical treatment. To this end, personalized plans of care are developed by our staff in conjunction with the resident and/or family and with the guidance of the resident’s physician. Our Georgian building retains many of its period features, and we have a variety of different sized bedrooms, many boasting en-suites. We encourage residents to bring along any personal items to ensure Woodside is a true home-from-home. Our extensive grounds are surrounded by nature, mature trees, and the River Don flows close by. The perfect location for animal lovers; many of our residents have bird tables outside of their bedroom windows, and our gardens are often frequented by the local wildlife.
Woodside Village Care Center is a dually certified, skilled nursing care, and a wide array of services which include long-term care, Alzheimer’s and dementia care, hospice care, respite care services. Our in-house physical, speech, occupational therapists treat both short-term intensive and long-term extensive care residents. Each day, our therapists help our residents to stand tall and enjoy life again. With 25 years of experience, we are experts in delivering the highest standards of care, offering 24-hour nursing care, residential care, respite care and convalescence care. Our warm and nurturing team, are all extensively trained to ensure that your relative or loved one is looked after in the most caring, safest and dignified way possible.
Protect the residents and staff and to provide as much safety for them as possible. Lockdown of the home was quick, with staff covering shifts to avoid having agency staff in and a decision not to take in untested hospital patients. These measures gave us as a family reassurance in what has been such a difficult time. We have been able to stay in contact with Dad throughout and the home is now taking measures so that we can visit in a safe, socially distanced way.
